Day Trip
Points of interest:
Palácio da Pena - Pena Palace
This palace, painted with vivid colors, is one of Sintra’s main attractions. It’s located in the top of the hill and it has a dazzling sight over the coast, sea and the hill itself. There you can visit the palace and its gardens which have lakes and an enormous diversity of plants and trees.

Castelo dos Mouros - Moorish Castle
Castelo dos Mouros (the Moorish Castle), perches on its hilltop, a silent sentinal above the town of Sintra. The Portugese of today waves from several of its crenelated towers along the walls. But these photos here show the approach walk which leads you through a moss draped forest.

Palácio Nacional de Sintra - Sintra National Palace
In the centre of the city stands the most discreet of its public palaces, but the richer. Built from a Muslim palace, for several centuries it was suffering modifications and improvements. Its general look comes from the 14th century, but almost all our kings used it, always adding something.

  Quinta da Regaleira
Quinta da Regaleira is much more than what you think it is at first sight. It is basically divided in two parts: The Palace and the Gardens. The gardens have an huge extension and they count with, sculptures, fountains, cascades, underground paths and the most impressive of all: the Iniciatic well.

  Monserrate Palace
Monserrate Palace
Monserrate is a large, romantic and exotic garden. In there are many wonders for you to find out. Small waterfalls, lakes, water plants, plants and trees from every corner of the world, fountains and even the ruins of an old chapel. In the top of the hill you have a small, recent recovered palace.
 City Views
Despite being a small village it is very pleasant to walk trough. You can see the Sintra National Palace and its unusual architecture or appreciate the regional gastronomy in "Piriquita"pastry shop Quinta da Regaleira - one of Sintra's main attractions.

  Sintra Toy Museum
Sintra Toy Museum
Quite good collection of different toys.Interesting to children ( I think,we have none) and to us who have been child one day ;) Toys for different ages in 3 or 4 floors.Only negative thing was how bad the air was there.I allmost felt sick. And it was very hot-and I hardly ever say so.
  The land of Azulejos
In the country of azulejos, they are everywhere. In gardens, churches, shops, buildings and even as street signs.

  Queluz Palace

Restaurants and Cafes:
Close to Quinta das Glicinias
  Restaurants in Praia das Macas
Little village of Praia das Macas (Apple Beach). There is a variety of restaurants right in the middle of the town. The two ones right on the road "Oceano" and "Buzio" are expensive but the others in town are good and value for the money. We recommend "Nautilus" were you get excellent fish and meat dishes.
  Nautilus
Only 15 minutes by car Praia das Macas is a perfect alternative for good food. For years now we enjoy the "Nautilus". Restaurant in Praia das Macas

This typical restaurante it's right on the Adraga beach. It's absolutly perfect after a lazy day at beach, enjoying your meal with a sunset for a company! And besides the setting, the food is great.
